Keel — blocker

For people who have already tried

I deleted it. It came back. So I built a door that stays shut.

Keel blocks porn on every device I own. It puts a waiting period between me and the off switch. Not advice. Not a streak counter. A door that stays shut while I change my mind.

Five questions. Two minutes. Cancel any time.

01 — Why

Willpower at 2am is not a plan.

I knew my workarounds by heart. The browser. The device. The hour.

I told myself “last time” more than three times a year.

Every blocker I installed, I removed the same week. Because I could.

Keel is the one I cannot remove in a hurry. That is the whole product.

02 — How it works

Eleven minutes, once, on a good day.

  1. 01

    Enroll your devices

Phone, laptop, tablet. One link each. Do the drawer one.

    ~6 min

  2. 02

    Set the delay

The only decision that matters. I suggest 24 hours.

    ~1 min

  3. 03

    Name a partner

Optional. One email. They hear from Keel once, if ever.

    ~4 min

03 — Our answers

The questions I get at midnight.

What gets blocked?
Every browser on every device you enroll. Private windows too. In-app browsers too. Filtering runs on the device. It survives new Wi-Fi, a hotspot, and a VPN.
What happens at 2am when I want it off?
Nothing, for a while. You set a delay while you are clear-headed. Ask to turn Keel off and the block stays on for the whole wait. Most people never come back to it.
Can I just delete the app?
Uninstalling is the same request. It waits the same delay. The version of you who set the delay wins.
Does anyone else have to know?
Only if you want that. Add a partner. They get one message if the block ever comes down. Never a site. Never a search.
Does Keel see what I browse?
No. Matching happens on your device. I store what you chose to block. I store nothing about what you visited.
Will it break the rest of my internet?
It should not. Search, social, medical and art sites keep working. Something wrong? Allow it in two taps. No wait for adding. Only for removing.
